Meet Sandy, I.T. Application Coordinator, Partners eCare
Time at Partners HealthCare: 12 years
Hobbies: Obstacle course racing and running with running club
Q: What is your role within your business area or department at Partners HealthCare?
A: I’m an application coordinator working on an innovative project in Partners eCare. I am part of a team that designs, builds, and tests systems supporting many of the revenue cycle processes which are currently supporting Massachusetts General Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and the remaining Partners Healthcare Institutions. I connect with people who provide billing support for these hospitals, identify their business needs and requirements to perform their tasks in an electronic system, and identify how to recreate those requirements and improve the current process using our new Partners eCare system.

Q: How do you and your team help to advance research and/or better patient care locally and/or globally?
A: My job entails streamlining information across many systems throughout the Partners HealthCare System—this improves a patient's experience in our system, because all of their information travels with them, and they can get one bill. In general, it makes things easier and more convenient for the patient.
Q: How does Partners HealthCare support you to achieve all of your goals?
A: Partners invests in its employees. I've been able to take part in the tuition reimbursement program, and have the flexibility to attend school when needed.
I'm an active board member of both the mentoring program here as well as the diversity council- both of which are top-down supported initiatives.
Q: What are your interests, hobbies or pursuits outside of your professional life at Partners?
A: I enjoy running- I'm a member of the Wicked Running Club in Salem- Go Wicked! In the past year I ran my first 4, 6, and 10 mile races, as well as a half marathon. I'm also involved in obstacle course racing, which involves trail running and completed my first Spartan race this year as a member of the New England Spahtens- AROO!
