PHI and Université Felix Houphouet-Boigny Sign Agreement to Develop an Advanced Model of Health Care in the Ivory Coast
In October, PHI signed a strategic agreement with Université Felix Houphouet-Boigny (UFHB) Abidjan, Ivory Coast to co-develop an advanced model of health care dedicated to the region’s unique population needs. In its work with UHFB, PHI will focus on the planning of the university's new academic hospital as part of its medical school. PHI and Vitals Global Healthcare Sign Agreement to Improve Health Care Delivery in Malta
PHI and Vitals Global Healthcare Limited (VGH) of Malta recently signed an agreement aimed at enhancing health care services and clinical education in Malta. This announcement comes following the award of a service concession from the Government of Malta (GoM) to VGH for the management and operation of Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital, Gozo General Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital. In collaboration with VGH, PHI will focus on the development of clinical quality and patient safety standards, benchmarks and systems, and the development of structures and systems for post graduate medical education. Alfaisal University Graduates First Class of Medical Students
This May, the College of Medicine at Alfaisal University graduated its first class of students. 33 medical students graduated this year from Alfaisal and of those 33:
- 8 matched for residencies in the United States
- 7 are doing postgraduate/research work in the US and Canada
- 5 have residencies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- 4 are adjunct faculty at Alfaisal
- 3 are preparing for future matches in the US, Germany and Australia

MGH Nurses Across Departments Guide Nursing Leadership Exchange Program in Qatar
PHI and the Knight Nursing Center for Clinical & Professional Development recently concluded a three month Nursing Program in Leadership Exchange and Development (LEAD) in collaboration with Qatar's Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). A total of 240 nurse leaders, comprising head nurses and directors of nursing across HMC, participated in various interactive workshops. Read more about the workshop here.
Bermuda Patients Get Access to Orthopedic Care at Newton-Wellesley Hospital
PHI recently signed a contract with Canadian Medical Network (CMN) to provide comprehensive and advanced orthopedic care to patients in Bermuda at Partners Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH). “Now Bermudians who are seeking these type of services off-island can receive cost-effective, high quality orthopedic care at one of the top hospitals in the U.S.,” said Leslie Shane, R.N., PHI’s Director of Patient Services and local expert for the Bermuda market. CMN will begin referring orthopedic patients to NWH over the next few months.
